Island Plastics were well known in the 1970's & 1980's and many commercial and leisure fishing style boats were made in this period from their yard in Cowes, Isle of Wight. The simulated 'clinker' hull form was developed from the famous beach launched fishing boats used extensively along the south and east coasts in the UK and more familiarly seen in the well know Mitchell 23 which this vessel is similar in many ways.
